From the Preface

What happens between knowing the steps of an operation and actually becoming capable of performing it? That space, between what is described and what is encountered, is where much of surgical learning occurs.

On Failure

Failure should never be romanticised; the patient bears its consequences. But neither should it be hidden from surgical education. The purpose is not to celebrate failure. It is to learn honestly from it.

Intended for education and professional reference. Surgical procedures should be undertaken only by appropriately trained professionals. Publication details will be announced on release of each volume.
